Make a schedule and stick to it religiously

If you employ others in your online business, then the success of your staff also rests partly on your shoulders; if your business fails, then so will they. It’s therefore important to manage your time wisely so that you can continue to manage your business wisely too.

When you’re travelling, one way to manage your time is to work a little each day rather than having a set Monday to Friday schedule. Plan your time each day so you can be sure everything is taken care of and nothing gets missed. It’s easy to get caught up with other things and forget something important, so it’s always a good idea to use a planner and set reminders!

Communication is key

Whether you’re needed by clients or your employees, make sure you’re available when you should be. Don’t be that boss that no one can ever get hold of (and whom you’ll only hear from when you’ve done something wrong!). Make sure there are a few hours each day when you are available to talk business.

Depending on your location, you might consider changing your hours of availability to better meet the time zones of others. You may find it helps to base your working hours on the time zones of your clients and those you work alongside in other parts of the world. In short, you can easily run a successful business while travelling. Just bear in mind that you’ll probably have to work most, if not every day, to keep things in check. Living location-independent doesn’t mean taking a permanent holiday. If you plan to be unavailable for an extended period of time, it’s wise to let people know you’re on leave and officially out of the office. Besides, taking a proper holiday once in a while will help you stay more productive.
